Ms. Xian Fu

Dear Xian:

I am writing with regret to inform you that you are not among the candidates
to be offered a place at Bowdoin next fall.

Your application was reviewed carefully by several members of the staff before
it was considered by the full Admissions Committee.  It was clear to us that
you have accomplished a great deal during your high school years, and that you
have the potential to do well in college.  Unfortunately, given Bowdoin’s small
size, it simply is not possible for us to offer admission to all of the applicants
who possess such potential.  In addition, a record number of applications have
made our selection process unusually challenging this year and generated the
most competitive admission rate in Bowdoin’s history.

Thank you for considering Bowdoin, and for taking the time to prepare your application.
My admissions colleagues and I wish you much success as you continue your education.

Sincerely yours,

William M. Shain
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Trinity:

Dear Xian:

The Committee on Admissions has had an opportunity to make a very careful review of your application for admission.  As sorry as I am to be the bearer of unhappy news, I must inform you that the Committee is unable to offer you admission to Trinity in the Class of 2011.

With over five thousand applicants for an incoming class of less than six hundred, the Committee has been forced to make extremely difficult decisions.  Many excellent applicants could not be admitted because the number of applications far exceeded the available places for new students.  I truly hope that you and your family will keep this fact in mind as you reflect on our decision, for our actions in large part have had to be predicated upon it.  Nearly all of our applicants were well prepared, personally outstanding young men and women.

We certainly appreciated your strong interest in Trinity.  On behalf of the Committee on Admissions, I offer our best wishes to you for much success in continuing your education.

Sincerely,

 Larry Dow

Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Dear Xian,

The Admission Office at Mount Holyoke College is posting this letter
on ISIS in advance of your official written notification of the
Admission Committee's decision on your application.

After carefully considering your application for admission to the
Class of 2011, we regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you
admission to Mount Holyoke College. We realize the deferment of your
Early Decision application has prolonged the receipt of your admission
decision. We very much appreciate your patience.

When reviewing applications, we consider a broad range of factors,
including academic record, rigor of academic program, extracurricular
and community involvement, and personal characteristics. The task of
selecting young women for the limited spaces available in the Class of
2011 was particularly difficult, as the students who apply to Mount
Holyoke College tend to be uniformly strong and talented. This year,
our applicant pool was the largest, most highly qualified, and diverse
group in the College's history.

We send you our best wishes with the hope that your other choices will
lead to a happy and rewarding college experience.

Sincerely,

Diane C. Anci

The admission committee has met and we are sorry to inform you that we are not able to admit you to Princeton.  We mailed you a decision letter earlier today, including a Statement to Candidates with answers to some questions you and your parents may have.  We received a record applicant pool of over 18,800 applications and we were able to accept only a small percentage of that group.  We realize you may be disappointed with this decision.  It was not possible to accept all the impressive students who applied to Princeton this year.  The committee appreciated the time, care, and effort you put into your application.

Dear Xian:

I am writing, with genuine regret, to inform you that you were not admitted to
Clark University.

The decision to deny admission to an individual is always very difficult.  We
noted your achievements and the ways in which you would have contributed to the
University community.  While no process which attempts to assess human
potential is without flaws, let me assure you that your application received
careful consideration from the Admissions Committee.

I regret that the news from Clark is not favorable. Please accept my best
wishes as you pursue other opportunities.

Yours sincerely,

Kristina Mukda
Senior Assistant Director of Admissions
Coordinator of International Recruitment

Dear Shery,

Thank you for your application to Wellesley College. The Board of Admission has completed its deliberations and regrets to inform you that we cannot offer you a place in the Class of 2011. Your application was carefully reviewed and we recognized your many accomplishments. Most of our applicants had excellent high school records and outstanding personal qualities. We simply did not have room for all the superb students who applied to Wellesley this admission season.

Please note that this is an early notification of your final decision. Your official decision letter is on its way. We appreciate the time and care you took in providing us with your credentials and wish you success as you pursue your education.

Sincerely,

The Board of Admission

Dear Xian,

I would like to thank you for your application to Franklin & Marshall College.
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you a place in the class for the fall
of 2006.

I understand that this news is unwelcome, but you should know that the
applicant pool this year was one of the largest and strongest in the history of
the College.  Although your application had many positive elements, the
Admission Committee had to make very difficult decisions and deny many fine
students.  Competition was extremely competitive, particularly for those
students requesting financial aid.  I sincerely regret that we are unable to
offer admission to many of the very capable students who apply.

The Admission staff joins me in thanking you once again for your interest in
Franklin & Marshall.  It is my sincere hope that you will have a fulfilling and
successful academic experience and I wish you all the best.

Warm regards,

Penny G. Johnston
Director of International Admission

Recome TO HEll~!!

Today morning, I recieved the letter from Julie Hockensmith which is my Trustee result.
How to say that, I just feel no words to describe. Before, I thought it is the most definite school which I will enter, but now... ai ~just display the letter:

Dear Xian:

Thank you for participating in our Trustee Scholarship competition.  This year’s response was tremendous.  You should know that the applicant pool of 140 students was highly competitive.  It is extremely encouraging to know that so many talented, young individuals are interested in attaining a higher education, particularly the valuable liberal arts education that is unique to Drury University.

The scholarship committee reviewed and made difficult decisions to award a limited number of scholarships.  While your achievements are worthy of high recognition, we are not able to offer you a scholarship.  Please know we deeply regret that we do not have an award for each qualified candidate.  We sincerely hope that you will attend Drury next fall and take advantage of the substantial scholarship opportunities already available to you.

You should review the Drury scholarship brochure for other awards you may qualify for.  All students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Student Aid to explore additional financial assistance programs.

Please contact the Admissions Office with any questions about your scholarship awards or the scholarship program.  We appreciate the time you took to apply and the interest you manifested in the Trustee Scholarship program.  And again, we congratulate you for having achieved such high academic and leadership distinction among your peers.  I know I represent the scholarship committee and others who talked with you when I say how delighted we would all be to have you at Drury this fall.  We hope you will choose Drury and we send every best wish for success in all your pursuits.

Sincerely,

Debbie Roetto

Scholarship Coordinator

Assistant Director of Financial Aid
